Whitney mountain bike in very good survivor condition. Built with Ishiwata double-butted Chrome-Moly (alloyed steel) tubing and Tange Champion Chrome-Moly forks, Ross loaded this bike up with the then-new Shimano Deore XT components including its ultra-rare MN-72 hubset. The factory Ukai rims originally came from the world of BMX cruisers and are worth hundreds of dollars to collectors. This bike even has its original SR adjustable-offset seatpost, which adds up to 2.25 of adjustment in addition to that of the seat rails. Want to move the seat back 4? Oh, and the seat is still the impossible-to-find original Ross Hi-Tech with no noticeable tears in its leather (though the finish is pealing). The stream of light that shown through a garage window faded the black finish of the left brake lever. That history also explains why it has vintage Specialized Street Stomper tires, which were likely dealer-installed and are also impossible to find now. A preservationist might be able to bond the factory skinwall with clear resin, but the cloth is currently too fragile for regular riding. These tires are the only parts on the bike that are not suitable for regular use today. I've only cleaned it, put a few drops of oil in the brake cables, raised the bars, greased the stem shaft and seat post, and replaced the missing grip sleeves with lookalikes. I even kept the original grip caps for visual authenticity. The frame measures 19.5" from the bottom bracket center to the top of the seat post, and has a 29" stand-over height with these tires.
